Summer Institute Moves to University of Washington

In 2006 the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics will move to the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Curriculum and instructors are expected to be substantially the same as in previous Institutes held at NC State University.

Dates for the 2006 Summer Institute are June 12 - 30. A subset of the modules will be taught at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, in late July, 2006.

Overview

The Summer Institute consists of a series of two-and-one-half-day workshops (modules) designed to introduce geneticists to modern methods of statistical analysis and to introduce statisticians to statistical problems arising in modern genetics. The modular nature of the Institute enables participants to design a program that suits their backgrounds and interests. Most participants take two or three modules.

Each module is taught by two or three faculty from U.S. and international universities or research centers.

The Summer Institute offers educational opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students and to professionals in academia, government, and industry without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability. The Summer Institute is funded in part by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. NIH and NSF funds support scholarships for students based on financial need and educational goals. Members of underrepresented minority groups are particularly encouraged to apply for scholarships.
